Travel 101

We just came back from Sint Maarten and it is easily one of my new favorite destinations.

In the last 60 days, I took 4 flights and 1 road trip.

Here’s what helps me travel as much as I do.

1. Delta- I’m a Delta snob and will only use American as an alternative for some Caribbean destinations. Booking the main cabin and having the credit card allows me to earn points. In fact three of my trips this year were free because of points.

I also gain points with Uber and if I use Lyft I get a monthly reimbursement of up to $10.

My card reimburses TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.

In the past Airbnb and Ticketmaster allowed you to gain points as well. I’m not positive if that is still a thing.

2. Hilton- When I am not staying in an Airbnb I book rooms with Hilton. I also have the Hilton credit card.

Lyft has a partnership with this card as well. When I use Lyft while traveling I get points towards my Hilton account.

My points can be used towards free nights.

3. Thrifty traveler- If you have flexibility in your schedule this is the best way to find and book travel deals. They have a free account, but also a premium account for the hottest deals that go to members first. If interested check out Thrifty Traveler Promotion

4. Google Flights- This allows you to track the cost of flights and get notified if the price changes. I track my flights even after I book. Purchasing main cabin flights in Delta allows you to make changes (see #1). If the flight price goes down I get a credit on my Delta account for the difference.

5. Travel insurance- I use Allianz and purchase a yearly plan for my family. It’s better to be prepared.

Let me know if you have any questions.
