Safe Activities and Self Care

Hi friends. We haven’t done as much posting on social media as we normally do. We miss your interactions. These past few weeks have been tough. Dealing with the dreaded pandemic and all it brings as well as other stressors has caused us to step back some. Don’t worry we are still out here supporting BIPOC businesses and sharing resources. We just needed a break to put a stronger focus on self care.

You and your family can still have fun even with most entertainment venues being closed. If you are struggling with finding safe things to do with your family or ways to practice self care we have a few ideas for you.

Get tickets and check out Christmas in Color. Take your time and drive through millions of lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music you’ll hear right through your radio. Drive by giant candy canes, snowmen, arched pathways and more. You can save 15% off your tickets by using code FAMILYFINDS15 at Christmas in Color

Have a night in and experience virtual reality. Rem5 VR Lab is now offering an option to rent an Oculus Go for one week. You and your family can enjoy a range of fun and educational experiences that are installed and ready on your rented headset for as little as $40/week. More information can be found at Rent an Oculus Go – REM5 VR LAB

If you want some time to yourself we have a few options as well. Right now a big part of our self care consists of listening to music, using our therapy light, and diffusing oil in our diffuser.

If you have not done so already download tidal.com for all your music options.

Our primary light, diffuser and oil can be purchased from Amazon using these direct links.

Light therapy is a way to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and certain other conditions by exposure to artificial light. SAD is a type of depression that occurs at a certain time each year, usually in the fall or winter.

During light therapy, you sit or work near a device called a light therapy box. The box gives off bright light that mimics natural outdoor light.

Light therapy is thought to affect brain chemicals linked to mood and sleep, easing SAD symptoms. Using a light therapy box may also help with other types of depression, sleep disorders and other conditions. Light therapy is also known as bright light therapy or phototherapy.

We hope some of these suggestions work for you! If not do not rush to get a puppy. Instead try a house plant. Caring for amazing plants such as pothos, money tree, and more has also been very beneficial. Now is the time for new healthy hobbies.
